How Sosa Construction Solved Their Biggest Communication Headaches
For George Sosa, returning to the Heights for construction projects is more than just work—it’s personal. Growing up, Sosa spent summers along Heights Boulevard helping his sister run a snow cone stand during the beloved Heights Festival. Now, he’s back in the neighborhood, not as a vendor, but as a builder—bringing new infrastructure to life with the help of modern technology.
Before discovering TaskTag, Sosa’s team struggled with communication and coordination on past projects.
“Ordering materials was always a challenge,” he recalls. “We had trouble keeping track of what was needed from the crews on-site, which led to delays and extended the time our machinery and teams were out in the field.”
Traditional communication methods—text messages, group chats, and spreadsheets—only made things worse. Crew members frequently changed phones and numbers, forcing teams to constantly restart group chats, while critical project details were buried in endless message threads and email chains.
How TaskTag Transformed Team Communication and Scheduling
That all changed with the Yale Street project, where Sosa’s team leveraged TaskTag, a homegrown Houston platform built by builders, to centralize communication, streamline scheduling, and ensure documentation was never lost. “TaskTag allowed us to capture and share project processes across our teams while keeping everything stored safely in the app,” Sosa explains. By using real-time updates, he and his foremen could monitor discrepancies without needing to be on-site at all times.
One of the biggest improvements was in scheduling and coordination. “I could send a mass update letting all crews know where they needed to be the next day,” says Sosa. “It made scheduling so much easier and eliminated a lot of confusion.” The app also played a crucial role in preserving project history through photos. “Pictures are vital in our work,” he adds. “For example, knowing where a sanitary disconnect was made during a demolition helps the plumber later when the house is being built.”
On a previous job, his team faced a dispute months after completing a tree removal project. “A homeowner called saying a tree we removed had damaged their gutter,” Sosa recalls. “But thanks to TaskTag’s photo archive, we were able to pull up images showing how the tree was taken down limb by limb, leaving the gutter intact. That kind of documentation is invaluable.”

A Construction Tool Designed by Industry Experts
TaskTag was built in Houston by a team of builders with deep experience in residential, multifamily, commercial, and industrial projects. Emmanuel Núñez, Product Manager at TaskTag, has been instrumental in shaping the platform to solve real-world construction challenges. “TaskTag was built by people who understand the unique struggles of the industry,” says Núñez. “We’re giving crews a better way to track work, avoid costly mistakes, and stay on schedule—without the chaos of scattered texts and emails.”
Building Smarter
Looking ahead, Sosa’s team plans to expand their use of TaskTag for check-ins, monitoring arrival and departure times, and eliminating reliance on scattered emails and texts. “We want all employees using TaskTag for oversight, scheduling, and staying on track,” he says. “It’s completely changed the way we work.”
With a strong history in the Heights and a commitment to innovation, Sosa is proving that even the most traditional industries can benefit from modern solutions. Thanks to TaskTag, what was once a constant battle with miscommunication is now a seamless process—helping his team build the future of the neighborhood he knows and loves.
